The philosophy of the B.A.R.F diet is that a dog's nutritional needs are no different than a wolf's. B.A.R.F. stands for bones and raw food. The main stay of this diet consists of raw meaty bones and pureed vegetables and fruits, which are added to simulate the matter that, in the wild, would be in a prey animal's stomach.
When dogs are deprived of their nutritional needs they develop a host of medical problems. These can lead to costly visits to the vet, undue stress, and financial worry for the owner.
